Questions pilgrims ask

Amarnath yatra FAQs

Do I have to trek?

The helicopter takes you to Panchtarni. From there it is about 6 km to the cave and 6 km back, around 4 hours in all. Most of our pilgrims go by palki, which you arrange at the counter with your Aadhaar.

What if the helicopter doesn't fly?

Mountain weather can delay flights. If the Amarnath helicopter is cancelled, we go by palki or pony and return the same day at extra cost, and refund ₹6,000 for the Amarnath helicopter (₹4,000 for Vaishno Devi).

What food will we get?

Vegetarian breakfast, lunch and dinner as per the schedule, cooked by our Tamil cooks. On darshan and Vaishno Devi days, some meals are packed or bought along the route.

Can I join from Madurai, Coimbatore or Bengaluru?

Yes. We book group flights from Madurai via Chennai, and from Coimbatore, Bengaluru and Chennai to Srinagar. Pilgrims coming from abroad can meet the group in Delhi.

Is it suitable for senior citizens?

Many of our Amarnath pilgrims are seniors. Everyone must pass the Compulsory Health Certificate, so please consult your doctor first. We'll talk you through the palki, weather and packing.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes. Pay a small advance and the balance in monthly instalments through our travel-finance partner, subject to credit approval.
